Our Story
Viet Artisans began with a simple hope for homeland development — helping rural and disadvantaged women in the Mekong Delta build steady, dignified livelihoods through craft.
Where We Started
Viet Artisans grew out of a dream to see the Mekong Delta thrive from within. We offer free vocational training and job placement so that women from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds can learn a craft, earn fair income, and gain lasting independence. Every handmade bag, notebook, or gift that leaves our craft center in Vinh Long Province carries that intention forward.
Viet Artisans began with a simple hope for homeland development, rooted in the belief that craft can be a pathway out of hardship for women in rural communities. From its earliest days, the social enterprise has focused on the Mekong Delta, a region rich in tradition yet marked by limited economic opportunity. By pairing thoughtful design with traditional Vietnamese techniques, the team set out to create handmade products that could carry both cultural meaning and real-world impact, offering a way for artisans to share their skills with a wider audience while supporting their own families and neighborhoods through steady, dignified work that respects heritage and fosters pride in place.
At the heart of the work lies a craft center where women receive free vocational training and ongoing mentorship in skills such as bookbinding, silkscreening, and bagmaking. These programs are designed not as short courses but as long-term commitments, pairing technical instruction with job placement so that graduates can transition into fair, stable employment. The environment emphasizes care, collaboration, and patience, allowing each artisan to develop confidence alongside craftsmanship. By removing financial barriers to learning, the enterprise opens doors for participants who might otherwise lack access to formal training, helping them build sustainable careers rather than temporary work, and ensuring that the benefits of the program extend well beyond the walls of the workshop into homes and communities throughout the region.
Every product that leaves the craft center is the result of careful, unhurried making, from the selection of materials to the final finishing touches. Notebooks, card holders, tote bags, and passport covers are produced in small batches, allowing artisans to focus on quality and detail rather than speed. This deliberate pace reflects a broader philosophy that values people over volume and longevity over trends. Customized corporate gifts are approached with the same care, turning bulk orders into opportunities for meaningful collaboration between designers, clients, and the artisans themselves. The result is a catalog of goods that feel personal and considered, each piece carrying the visible imprint of the hands that shaped it and the story of the program that made its creation possible.
Guiding the enterprise is a commitment to social responsibility, transparency, and the belief that business can be a force for good. Profits are reinvested into training programs, materials, and the continued support of artisans long after they complete their formal coursework, creating a cycle of opportunity rather than a one-time intervention. The team works closely with volunteers, designers, and partner organizations who share an interest in ethical production and rural development, welcoming visitors to the craft center to see the process firsthand. Through this open, community-oriented approach, Viet Artisans continues to nurture independence and craft skill, offering a model of how thoughtful enterprise can bring dignified work, shared smiles, and lasting change to the Mekong Delta and the people who call it home.
What Guides Us
Our work is shaped by four commitments that run through everything we make and every relationship we build:
Community
Rooted in the people and villages of the Mekong Delta.
Innovation
Fresh designs built on traditional handcraft skills.
Service
Attentive, thoughtful work for every client and visitor.
Trust
Honest partnerships with artisans, clients, and supporters.
The Artisans Behind the Work
Each product is shaped by hand by women who have trained at our craft center. Their skill and care sit behind every stitch, weave, and printed detail — from fabric notebooks to corporate gifts. Getting to know the people behind the work is part of what makes a Viet Artisans piece meaningful.
Where the Profits Go
All profits from our shop and corporate gift orders go back into supporting more people in need — funding further training, job placement, and opportunity for women across the region. Buying a gift or visiting our center directly extends that reach.
